This book was reviewed for and on behalf of the Kindle Book Review.
With this book, Amanda Bretz takes a tried and tested formula and delivers in everyway you’d expect. Yes, the story is predictable but did that make me enjoy it any less? No. And, if I’m truthful, if the final line hadn’t been what it was, I’d have been thoroughly disappointed.
The story follows Gabby, the girl who grew up in a small town, where everyone knows everyone else, she suffers tragedy and moves away to the big city to study. Tragedy hits again and, against her will, she is forced back home to the small town.
Cue the handsome man, romantic scenery and you’ve got the idea where this book is heading.
The characters aren’t explored to any great depth and as a reader you find yourself easily accepting of the way that lost years are made up over night between Gabby and her friends. But, that said this book delivers what I expected it to and Bretz’s writing style is comfortable and fun.
I’d sum this book up as a perfect holiday read. It’s quick and easy to read and gives you a warm fuzzy glow and I am sure will be on many a guilty pleasure list.
